A NEW multi-million pound holiday park could soon open in the UK.

Found near the village Dailly in South , the current land use for agriculture would turn it into a tourist site.

The new holiday accommodation site would have 95 holiday lodges, each with their own parking space, as well as new pathways and landscaping.

The lodges would range from two to three bedrooms, along with a kitchen and lounge area.

The resort will have a mix of lodges to rent and ones to own privately.

Expected to cost around £11.9million, it could open in the next few years if the proposal is accepted by the local council by the end of the year.

The planning statement said: “This proposal is for the development of holiday lodges, aimed at delivering a sustainable tourism offering that complements Dalquharran Estate – an area that features two ruined historic and a well-used network of walking paths created by the applicant.”

They added that a restaurant and cafe will not be built on-site, due to the proximity to the nearby village, and would encourage guests to explore the local area instead.

The statement finished: “The proposal makes best use of the area’s built and natural assets whilst supporting the local economy and helping diversify a local established family business; maximising net economic impact and associated business, tourist and supply chain opportunities.”

The is set across 261 acres, with two ancient castles on-site.

There is Old Dalquharran Castle, which was built in the 16th century.

This was sadly abandoned in the 1800s, and now lies as ruins to explore.

Otherwise there is the which was built in 1790 by famous Scottish architect Robert Adam, who also designed a number of country houses, colleges and theatres across the UK.

While in better condition, this has also been left empty for years after being abandoned in the 1960s where the roof was removed due to tax reasons.

This is despite a number of plans over the years, including a country hotel, although none have ever come into fruition.

And back in 2023, new walking trails were introduced across the estate that are open to the public.

To get there, the estate is around 45 miles from the city of Glasgow.

And it isn’t the only area that wants to build a new holiday park.
