A new Customs Area Command at the Snake Island Integrated Free Zone, SIIFZ, is to be established following an official visit to the facility recently by the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi.
The CGC, during the visit, expressed delight at the level of investment made on the island.
According to him, “the Service is in the final stages of documentation to establish a dedicated Command at the Free Zone, which will enhance operations and strengthen regulatory presence.”;
He assured that they are just at the stage where they are finalising all the documentation, assuring that by the next time he visits the place, he will be received by a Customs Area Controller.
Adeniyi stressed the importance of synergy between Customs and private sector operators in driving national economic goals, saying that they are looking forward to a symbiotic relationship, that will benefit the Nigeria Customs Service, the Federal Government of Nigeria, and the Nigerdock as a corporate entity.
The Managing Director of SIIFZ, Semiu Akorede, in his remarks, expressed appreciation for the Service’s support and highlighted the significance of the visit to the zone’s operational growth.
He stated that the coming of the Comptroller General of Customs is going to add a lot of value and enjoyed the support of Customs officers that are working with them and those that come to carryout some operations.
