My loyalty is to God first then Tinubu – Umahi

Published on June 09, 2025 at 03:52 PM

Minister of Works, David Umahi has declared that after God, his loyalty lies with President Bola Tinubu.

According to him, he takes instructions only from the duo.

Umahi spoke in Abakaliki on Monday while speaking with journalists. He was reacting to the President’s recent commendation of his achievements in infrastructure development.

The minister said the commendation was worth more than one trillion dollars to him, noting that it shows he was on the right track and that God answers prayers.

“I have told the President even publicly that my loyalty is to God first and then, him.

“When someone places the kind of trust in you that Tinubu has placed in me, it would be completely wrong and even devilish to betray that trust,”; he said

He further stated that anyone who would betray Tinubu after receiving such level of trust and support would provoke the anger of God.

“Have you seen where a man presided over the procurement of a project worth N1.6 trillion and his boss did not call him to ask how he went about it?

“I am talking about one section of the project depending on the length.

“I pray every day that if I ever put myself, my family, or friends above God, Tinubu, and the Nigerian people, may God not answer my prayers,”; the minister added.

Umahi pledged to keep praying for Tinubu and for everyone who supports him and values his efforts.

He said, “I also extend this recognition to all who have prayed for my success in serving the people.

“This means that contractors will be under pressure to complete around 30 major projects, which the President is set to inaugurate by December 20.

“I am actively engaged in the construction and inspection of projects spread across the six geo-political zones of the country.”;
