A POLICE officer and mum-of-two has suddenly died with tributes flooding in.
Coleen Mellor, 40, a Police Sergeant, was sadly found dead at her home in Wakefield on Thursday, January 15.

Her friends are now fundraising to help support her two sons and described Coleen as a “bright light in the lives of all who knew her”.
In a heartbreaking tribute, they said her sons’ father Craig would now raise them “while they face unimaginable grief”.
It read: “Coleen was not only an incredible dedicated police sergeant, but an adored mother, beloved daughter, precious sister and an amazing friend.
“While we cannot replace the love of a mother, we can surround them with the support from the community for the two boys she loved with all her heart.
It went on to add that both of Coleen’s sons were in secondary with one due to sit his GCSEs this year.
“The boys loved their mum so deeply, and facing their future without her is unimaginable,” the tribute continued.
“The funds raised will help to give them some breathing space. Whether that’s to help with everyday costs, time off work so Craig can support their sons, or simply space to grieve and begin to heal.
“We will love her forever. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
West Yorkshire also paid a touching tribute to Coleen after sharing the news of her death on Wednesday.
Coleen had joined the force as a member of staff in 2007 before becoming a police constable two years later.
In March 2024, she moved from Wakefield to after being promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
Assistant Chief Constable Sarah Jones said: “Coleen was well-respected and valued by all those who knew and worked with her.
“Her death has come as a great shock to everyone at West Yorkshire Police, and my thoughts remain with Coleen’s family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.”
While the West Yorkshire Police Federation it was “devastated” to hear of Coleen’s death.
It described her as a “popular colleague” and said she will “be much missed”.
Police added that Coleen’s death was not being treated as suspicious.
Both her family and colleagues are being supported by specially trained officers and dedicated support services, they added.
Coleen’s friends have set up a GoFundMe page to help support her loved ones with police asking that their privacy is respected at this time.
Nearly £6,000 has already been raised with hundreds of people donating.
