A fisherman who disappeared just days before Christmas has been identified.
The alarm was raised on December 20 when a small creel boat was discovered washed ashore on the beach at Inverbervie, Aberdeenshire.

A Police Scotland spokesperson mentioned: “Around 11:10 am on Saturday, December 20, 2025, police were alerted to a report of an unoccupied creel boat that had run aground on Inverbervie Beach, Inverbervie.
“A multi-agency search was conducted to locate the boat's sole occupant, including searches of the Lunan Bay and surrounding coastal areas.
“Officers are continuing to carry out inquiries, and the missing person remains unaccounted for.”
