United are eager to enhance their midfield options with the contract of Bruno Fernandes expiring and uncertainty surrounding the futures of other players.

United's pursuit is reportedly facing competition from Newcastle, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and others for his signature.

While it remains uncertain if Smit will make the move to England soon, the teenage star has arrived in the UK to enjoy the event.

Smit was photographed fully embracing the atmosphere at Ally Pally, dressed as the animated character Shaun the Sheep, while his friends donned chicken and cow costumes.

The group enjoyed the evening's festivities with drinks on their table as one of Smit's friends danced and sang along to the Ally Pally darts anthem.

Fans were pleased with Smit's laid-back demeanor during his break from the Eredivisie season.

However, if United or any other interested party comes calling in the summer, the Dutch club is believed to be seeking a £52 million fee.
