The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has urged members of the Kungaboku and Paze communities to remain calm amid reports that bandits are planning to attack the villages.
Reports had emerged on Sunday that suspected bandits sent a letter through a student of a private school in Kungaboku community, threatening to attack the villages.
According to the reports, the bandits vowed to retaliate the killing of one of their commanders during a recent security operation in the area.
Reacting, the FCT Police Command in a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said after thorough investigation into the matter, it was concluded that the letter emanated from “mischief makers”.
According to Adeh, the originators of the letter were only “seeking to spread fear and panic within the community for their mischievous purposes”.
“The Command therefore calls on members of the affected communities and the general public to disregard the letter and remain calm.
“However, residents are enjoined to remain vigilant and security conscious at all times,” the statement added.
