REGIS LE BRIS has not dismissed the possibility of acquiring Matteo Guendouzi and is already in frequent communication with the former Arsenal player.

The French coach, who is preparing for tomorrow's match against Fulham, has guided the team to fourth place with an impressive total of 19 points from 11 matches.

This success has been bolstered by a complete overhaul of his squad following promotion, bringing in an impressive 14 new signings.

He dropped a significant hint that their transfer activities are far from over, with preparations already underway for January.

According to Sun Sport, the Black Cats' director of football, Florent Ghisolfi, is eager to make the 14-time capped player the next addition to their roster.

The 26-year-old, who Le Bris previously coached at the youth level in Lorient, is currently facing limited playing time at Lazio, with several clubs considering a potential £22 million transfer.

Guendouzi was excluded from training and matchday squads due to recurring issues with his “attitude” and “general conduct.”

Guendouzi recently remarked: “Honestly, his [Le Bris] success at Sunderland doesn’t surprise me.

“A year with him is perhaps equivalent to three years with other coaches. You learn a lot about yourself. Without him, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
