The rear wheel sustained considerable damage, with the tire coming off.
Wiebes, who currently competes for SD Worx-Protime, stated that she emerged unscathed from the crash but expressed her worries about the driver hitting her from behind and then fleeing the scene.
In an Instagram post accompanying the image of her bike, she remarked: “To the person who hit me and didn’t stop,
“Fortunately, I’m quite alright, but this could have been much worse, especially since I was struck from behind.
“I appreciate the two individuals who paused to ensure I was okay. It’s even more frustrating to see how many cyclists lose their lives to cars.”
She later shared a distasteful comment from a user in response to her story, wishing her “as many broken bones as possible.”
The troll also labeled her “the most unsportsmanlike woman there is.”
In response to the screenshot of the comment, she stated: “People are so kind these days!”
“Fortunately, the body is resilient, and it appears that everything is okay.”
Wiebes boasts numerous impressive victories throughout her career, including a win in the women’s omnium at the 2025 UCI Track Cycling World Championships.
She has achieved 25 road victories this season alone, the highest of any road rider in 2025.
Her other recent victories include the Milano San Remo race back in March.
Additionally, she secured wins in Belgian races at the Classic Brugge-De Panne and the Gent Wevelgem.
Wiebes is currently enjoying her off-season following her Track World Championships victory in October.
