A 51-year-old married man named Moses Abraham has been apprehended by the police in Jos, Plateau State, for fatally assaulting his lover after discovering her with another man.
The incident, which reportedly took place on Friday, occurred in the Legislative Quarters area of Jos, the state capital. Abraham, a long-distance tanker driver, visited the deceased, identified as Cecilia, intending to spend the night with her, only to find another man in the apartment he had rented for her.
According to an eyewitness residing in the same neighborhood as the deceased, after discovering another man in his lover’s apartment, Abraham reportedly left and went to a nearby bar where he waited for the man to leave while consuming alcoholic beverages.
The eyewitness stated that late at night, the suspect, who is a father of five, returned to Cecilia’s apartment, locked the door, and brutally assaulted her, striking her head against the wall multiple times before ultimately using a stone to crush her skull.
“From what we understand, the man lives in Bidi-Bidi and is married with four children. The deceased, Cecilia, is separated from her husband, and it was Abraham who rented the apartment for her while she operated a salon nearby,” the neighbor explained.
“What led to Cecilia's death, according to Abraham, was that he arrived at her place without prior notice because he had been informed that she often entertained other men whenever he was away due to his job as a long-distance tanker driver.
“So on that Friday, he found a man in her apartment, which triggered the altercation that ultimately resulted in her death,” he stated.
He added that after killing Cecilia, Abraham went to the nearby Nasarawa-Gwom police station to report the murder and turn himself in. He then led the police to Cecilia’s apartment, where her remains were recovered and taken to a mortuary while Abraham was taken into custody.
