What is Marble Hall Murders about?
Like previous series, Marble Hall Murders serves up a mystery-within-a-mystery, with many of the cast taking on two roles across dual timelines.
The main story again follows Susan Ryeland, the publisher-turned-sleuth who takes on a commission to edit a new “continuation novel” featuring famed 1950s fictional detective, Atticus Pund.
But when a young writer gets entangled in a real-world murder, Susan finds herself named as a prime suspect.
Meanwhile, within the pages of the novel, Pund travels to the Greek island of Corfu.
There, he investigates the high-society murder of Lady Margaret Chalfont, a case involving stolen Nazi artwork, a deceitful family, and plenty of hidden motives.
Who is in the cast of Marble Hall Murders?
The series features an enviable lineup of British screen royalty, with several actors taking on multiple roles across the series’ interlinked stories:
- Lesley Manville returns as the sharp-witted publisher and amateur investigator, Susan Ryeland.
- Tim McMullan reprises his role as 1950s detective, Atticus Pund.
- Patricia Hodge (All Creatures Great and Small) stars as Lady Margaret Chalfont/Miriam Crace.
- Mark Bonnar (Guilt, World on Fire) joins the cast as Edward Crace/Elmer Waysmith.
- Claire Rushbrook (Rivals, Home Fires) returns as Susan’s sister, Katie Williams.
- Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones) plays Roland Crace/Robert Waysmith.
- Rupert Penry-Jones (Spooks) plays Jonathan Crace/Jeffrey Chalfont.
- Zubin Varla joins as Achilles Vassilikos, a Greek police officer who becomes Pund’s sidekick.

How to watch Marble Hall Murders
Marble Hall Murders begins on Saturday, September 26. The first episode airs on One at 9.35pm.
New episodes will air on TV across the following five Saturday nights on .
