And according to Will, who played Gaz in the series, the reunion episode will centre around the characters’ current circumstances.

He said: “I’d love to get us all back together. We’ve even got a script.

“Susan’s written it, a proper special, Two Pints: Last Orders, a ‘where are they now?’ kind of arrangement. I’m trying to make it happen.”

He added: “I’ve got everything crossed.”

I revealed back in January that writer Susan had obtained the rights to the sitcom from the , meaning she can now pitch the comeback to a rival channel or streaming service.

The series — which first aired on BBC Two in 2001 before moving to BBC Three two years later — featured a gang of twentysomething pals living in working-class Runcorn and followed their boozy antics and daily struggles with life and love.

It ran for nine series and was before she turned into a big draw on both the stage and small-screen.

There will be one tricky area for the new script.

, was killed off at the end of the sixth series, but given the magic of TV, Susan will probably find a way to revive him, in typically comical style.

Writing in his new autobiography, Where There’s A Will, former star Will described how he’s now back in touch with co-star Sheridan after they lost contact during her well-documented health struggles when she wouldn’t return his messages.

He wrote: “I just wanted her to know the line was open.

“I messaged her again not long ago and she replied, saying she misses me. I couldn’t have been happier when subsequently she came to my 50th birthday party.”

There will be another big party when Two Pints comes back.

is heading off on the adventure of a lifetime – with the help of some of his comedy friends.

In a first look at his Prime Video show, Alan Carr’s Great Big Bucket List, the winner of the first series of ticks off some hair-raising challenges with varying levels of success.

The comic walks on coals for Joe Wilkinson, both figuratively and literally, as they go on an action-packed weekend, and enjoys a Highland adventure with Joanne McNally.

Alan also takes to the skies with and visits a waterfall with who, in trademark style, looks less than impressed by their day out.

Tom Allen also gets involved in the bucket list action – and some of the challenges make the Traitors missions look like an absolute doddle.

“It’s time to stop putting things off,” says Alan.

The series launches on on November 27.

The screenwriter has some time on his hands since parting ways with and says he’d love to pen an episode of the show – about an android carer – with its star and creator Diane Morgan.

“I love Ann Droid with a passion,” Russell told the Adam Buxton podcast.

next project is a departure from the norm for him.

Famed for his comedy and appearing in front of the camera, he’s switched tac with his upcoming Channel 4 thriller Hunting Alice Bell, which starts on Wednesday.

Inspired by the dark notoriety of Maxine Carr, the partner of Soham killer , and more recently the case of jailed nurse , the series follows a group women who have been mistakenly identified as the girlfriend of a killer doctor, played by , and targeted.

“I’ve long been interested in how certain women become these super-evil figures in our culture,” said David.

“I also noticed the rise of the internet amateur sleuth: people broadcasting from the site of a death or disappearance, saying they know exactly what happened and gathering followers. The internet can create certainty around a mystery.”

There’s also flicks of social satire, like the reference to the real-life case of a paediatrician whose house was burned down because the mob misread the sign outside his home for paedophile.

“In terrible situations do still make jokes. Humour is a way of dealing with what’s happening.”
