The Kaduna State Police Command has identified the man who breached security during President Bola Tinubu’s speech in Kaduna as Umar Mohammed, a mentally ill supporter of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Police spokesperson Mansir Hassan disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the incident, which momentarily startled the president and his security aides, occurred during a public address at a stadium in Kaduna on Thursday.

According to Hassan, the intruder, a native of Anguwan Muazu in Kaduna, “was born with psychiatric disorders and is of unsound mind.”; He described Mohammed as “an ardent supporter of the President and the Governor.”;

Hassan said that during interrogation, Mohammed explained that he acted out of “anxiety and emotional excitement,”; expressing a long-standing desire to meet President Tinubu and the state governor.

The police explained that Mohammed had gained entry into the venue wearing the standard APC campaign T-shirt and carrying banners bearing the images of the president and governor, like other screened supporters.

The incident saw a visibly alarmed President Tinubu pause mid-speech as his security personnel rushed to intercept the intruder.

Footage of the moment has since gone viral, sparking public concern over the breach and the president’s safety during public engagements.
