His death was announced in a post on Manchester United’s website on Thursday.

The club expressed sadness upon receiving the news that Davies had passed away.

Born in 1942 in Caernarfon, Davies began his professional career with Wrexham.

He went on to play for the likes of Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United during his playing days.

The forward moved to Manchester in 1971, spending a season with Manchester City.

After one season at City, Davies joined the Red Devils in 1972 for a reported fee of around £65,000.
