Man in police net for allegedly stealing 16 mattresses in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested Habeeb Sheu for allegedly breaking into a property and stealing 16 mattresses in Ilorin, the state capital.

According to the police, the owner of the property was a resident of the Federal Capital Territory who had placed the items in the care of his younger brother.

The theft was exposed when a family member, identified as Abdulrahman, came to do a routine welfare check at the home and found the place had been broken into and several items including eight orthopaedic mattresses were missing.

SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect, who lives in Sango area of Ilorin, was arrested after subsequent investigation.

“The police recovered 16 mattresses from the suspect’s residence. Six mattresses were identified to be the orthopaedic mattresses the owner reported stolen, the other ten were assorted types.”; She said.

SP Ejire-Adeyemi said the suspect is still in Police custody undergoing questioning and the investigation is still ongoing to trace and apprehend other accomplices and recover stolen items.
