Tragic Accident: Man in His 30s Killed by Bus on A1, Road Closed for Hours

A man has lost his life after being struck by a bus.

The pedestrian, in his 30s, was hit on the A1 near Haggerston in Northumberland on Sunday morning.

Authorities have confirmed that the man died at the scene following the incident at approximately 5 AM, and the bus driver is cooperating with the investigation.

The road was closed for several hours.

Sgt. Steven Chappell of Northumbria Police’s roads policing team stated: “This is a tragic event in which a man has sadly lost his life.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends as they come to terms with the news they received this morning.

“Our investigation is in its initial stages, and we are doing everything possible to understand the circumstances that led to such a tragic incident.

“I urge anyone with information to come forward so that we can provide this man's family with the answers they deserve.”

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were alerted to a road traffic incident on the A1 near Berwick Upon Tweed this morning (2 November) at 5:06 AM.

“We dispatched two ambulance crews and one clinical team leader to the scene.”
