Former Man City star arrested over alleged £100,000 tax fraud as ‘documents and luxury watches are seized’

Former Manchester City star Kiki Musampa has been arrested – over an alleged £100,000 tax fraud.

The left winger spent 18 months at City on loan from , making 41 appearances.

Nicknamed Chris, Musampa scored goals against , and . He left to join Turkish side Trabzonspor in 2006.

The 43-cap youth international previously won the and two Dutch league titles with .

Musampa, 48, is currently assistant manager of the Amsterdam club’s Jong Ajax reserve side.

But Dutch cops reportedly arrested the Zaire-born coach on Tuesday.

Documents and luxury watches were said to have been seized in a raid on his home.

Musampa’s accountant, 65, was also held.

The ex-footballer was released from custody on Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators from Holland’s Fiscal Information and Investigation Service, FIOD, claim Musampa declared himself a tax resident abroad while working and earning income in the .

He is accused of defrauding the authorities of over €100,000.

Reports in Holland allege Musampa recently had a property in Amsterdam repossessed after battling with tax issues for years.

An Ajax spokesman said: “We are aware of Kiki Musampa’s arrest, but we think it is too early to react to it in detail.”

The attacking midfielder’s career took him to six countries, playing also for clubs in France, Turkey and South Korea before he hung up his boots at Dutch club Willem II in 2009.
