City had their backs to the wall for the duration of the second half – a sight rarely seen under Guardiola – but despite that the boss was a happy man at full-time.
Guardiola was jubilant with the spirit his side displayed, suggesting they have recovered what they lost last season.
He said in his post-match press conference: “It’s the body language – how we celebrate, how we communicate, how we make an effort.
“We lost it a lot last season. I said I don’t give a f*** about the results, I want to see the spirit back in the training sessions and us enjoying it.
“We had to recover it. This week we have recovered. We have to continue.
“I suffered. I don’t like it, I want the ball far away [from goal].
“But one time 10 years is not bad, right? Our resilience was fantastic, otherwise we cannot survive.”
Guardiola went through a range of emotions at the Emirates, and at one point he fourth official Craig Pawson.
