A Married At First Sight Australia groom has been slammed for making “gross” comments about women as fans say “he’s making me feel sick”.

The 13th series of the hit show from the other side of the world debuted on tonight and it’s already left viewers up in arms with one groom in particular.

Fans were introduced to Chris Nield, a 31-year-old construction worker and gym owner from Victoria, but it’s fair to say he didn’t leave a very good first impression.

In an audition clip that was shown, Chris was asked by a producer: “What turns you off?”

He responded: “Fake tan, needy and fat people.”

During a conversation with the other grooms, he admitted his deal breaker would be if his bride was “overweight”.

“It can be harsh but I’m not afraid to say it,” Chris said bluntly as the other grooms looked on in shock.

Fans were also left in shock as they flocked to to share their thoughts on his unkind words.

One person fumed: “er Chris is already making me feel sick, men like him are so gross.”

Another viewer slammed: “Chris is an arshehole omg.”

Somebody else raged: “We all collectively hate Chris already, right? Imagine trying to be funny insulting the show that YOU applied for.”

Chris didn’t leave the best first impressions with the other grooms either as he walked into a bar where they were all sat and went straight up to the bar first.

He then met everyone but told them that he would forget all of their names anyway.

It was revealed last month that the iconic show would be returning, with a new episode each night up from Monday to Thursday.

This series is different from the rest as a new chapter coined ‘Revelations Week’ has been introduced.
