However, the reception to the drama has been mixed to underwhelming.
All episodes were made available for streaming on as well as airing Sunday and Monday night on ITV1 for the first two offerings.
But it did not take long for disgruntled viewers to all issue the same complaint right from the get-go.
Insisting they were left reaching for the remote to switch off, many fans were in agreement that the show was both “boring” and “slow” despite promising high-stakes drama.
Writing on X, one unhappy viewer moaned: “Fell out with drama’s lately because I got bored of them all following the same sort of story, thought i’d give #Gone a chance tonight and turned off already.
“Mind numbingly boring with nothing happening that makes me even want to remotely care where the wife is.”
Someone else penned: “Too slow and BORING.”
A third echoed: “Not sure I can stay with this, slow, boring, predictable.”
Before a fourth chimed in to add: “Gone really disappointing slow drawn out. Feels like could have been done in 3 episodes max.“
The programme airs across six episodes and is led by Eve alongside David Morrisey.
It is set in and sees headmaster Michael and his daughter, Alana, left alarmed when they discover his wife, Sally, has gone missing.
A synopsis for the show reads: “With tension in the air, yet Michael not displaying any emotion, Annie Cassidy’s suspicions are heightened the more she investigates.
“Something in her gut tells her all is not what it seems.
“Could he be capable of murder? And if so – why?”
