A MAJOR UK motorway has ground to a halt after flooding closed the road and sparked rush hour chaos.
The M60 anti-clockwise in Greater Manchester between J17 and J14 is fully closed this morning.
It is understood that a “sewage infrastructure malfunction”, unrelated to ongoing works on the road, flooded the lanes of the busy road overnight.
The overnight works have now been extended and will overrun their scheduled end time of 5am.
Specialist support has been mobilised to the scene as emergency crews work to reopen the busy road.
Drivers have been warned to expect delays in the area until the motorway can be made safe.
