OUR favourite high street stores are trying their best to suit all shapes and sizes.

But it can still feel like a struggle to find clothes that work for everybody.

So we’ve been putting popular shops and supermarket fashion lines to the test to see which offers the best pieces for all figures.

I, Lynn, am 46 and have pretty much always been a size 10 – but can feel self-conscious about my tum since becoming a mum. Meanwhile, my office bestie Katy is a petite and curvy size 18.

We’re on a mission to try the same styles in different sizes from a range of fashion favourites to find clothes that really work ‘for everybody‘.

Our For Everybody series has showcased some of the best gems in , , and more over the past 18 months.

As well as discovering the on-trend items for the new season, we’ve also become experts at styling outfits for our very different shapes.

This week, we headed to one of our faves, River Island. In the past we have found some sensational autumn buys from the store, which does outerwear and knits to perfection.

But with the warmer weather coming in and spring/ summer clothes on the racks, we tried four gorgeous pieces which give White Lotus luxury, without the super soaring price tags.

White Wide Leg Drawstring Jeans, £42

I know what you’re thinking, wide leg denims don’t feel that summery. But I assure you, these are going to become a staple for the warmer months.

Unlike most jeans, these are super light and airy. They still feel robust and high quality but move like linen trousers.

They come in sizes 6-22 and also offer petite and tall options.

The tie-waist makes them really easy to wear and they can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

These will definitely be coming in my suitcase the next time I go on hols.

Katy says: “While blue denims are always a reliable and comforting choice, nothing lifts your wardrobe outfits like a pair of white jeans.

“The perfect pair of white jeans creates a chic and summery outfit without the need to be in a skimpy sundress.

“As a millennial I still try to cling to skinny jeans, even if my size 18 figure objects. So braving a wide leg pair was a big change for me. And I think I’m a convert!

“The tie-waist makes them feel immediately comfy, and the baggy fit will be perfect for the hot weather.”

Brown Stitched Knit Polo Top, £29

This top was a wild card for me – the colour, the see through-ness and the shape. I would never have picked it up without Katy’s nudging.

But I am so glad I was persuaded. This looks super chic and classy, espcially paired with the white denims.

The dark coloured crochet makes it modest enough to wear with just a bra – although as a bit of a prude I might have to whack a vest on underneath.

And the sparkly buttons give it an elevated quality. This also got a massive nod of approval from my husband, which is a rare endorsement.

It comes in sizes XS to XL, with us opting for a small and large.

Katy said: “I’m usually a gold detailing girlie, so I thought the silver buttons would put me off with this.

“But paired with the brown and other neutral colours, they didn’t bother me at all.

“The knitted detailing makes it the perfect transitional piece into spring and summer – it nails the jeans and a nice top brief.”

Beige Oversized Long Sleeve Blazer, £69

You cannot go wrong with a good blazer – they can take you from winter into spring and beyond, and they elevate a casual outfit into something way more chic.

This tan version immediately feels right for the warmer season and I am so looking forward to styling it up with different outfits.

It feels like pure quality – which is reflected in the price point – and the tortoiseshell buttons give it an expensive look.

Katy added: “A blazer is a wardrobe staple, and this colour is perfect for the sunnier months.

“It’s just the right level of oversized and will look great with denim shorts and a vest, as well as jeans. I know I will wear this all year round.”

Beige Stripe Linen Blend Shirred Midi Dress, £46

I’ve never had a square-necked dress before and wasn’t sure if it would suit me.

But it actually looked great on both Katy and I, enhancing the bits we want to show off and hiding a multitude of sins.

It feels super light and I know it’ll be ideal for hols with sandals but could also work for the office with heels and a blazer. A definite staple for spring and summer.

It comes in sizes XS to XL and is also available in a gorgeous monochrome leaf print or red.

Katy says: “The square neckline of this dress is so flattering, even with big boobs.

“While wearing it, I felt like the vertical stripes were very slimming and the stretchy shirred back is also great for added comfort.

“The lightweight material and cream colour make this dress the perfect addition to your holiday wardrobe for an evening look. The only thing missing – pockets!”
