They are all rallying around bereft mum Gloria, who is a friend of Queen Camilla.
A source told The Sun: “It’s been a huge shock.
“Peter’s family are still in the dark about what happened. They have no idea how he died and are desperately waiting for news.
“It was Lizzie’s poor mum who found his body. She’s very shaken, the whole family are.
“It’s been heartbreaking.”
Peter’s loved ones are now awaiting the results of a post-mortem to determine his cause of death.
The 65-year-old worked in television, theatre and film throughout his career, producing many shows like The People Speak with Hollywood legend Colin Firth.
Lizzie revealed the news of his sudden death last week.
Sharing a picture of her sibling Peter, wrote in an emotional tribute: “It is with a heavy heart and great sadness to tell you that my brother Peter has died.”
The and radio presenter, 57, added: “We as a family are heartbroken.
“Peter was a much loved son, brother and uncle.
“He worked in theatre, film, had a great love of dogs and of Chelsea FC.
“A real character and a kind soul who will be very much missed.
“Can’t believe he has gone. Rest in peace dear Pete.”
Lizzie’s loss comes just five months after her best friend, star passed away following a at the age of 74.

The legendary broadcaster, who appeared on in 2016, is said to have following the lengthy battle.
He was first diagnosed with cancer back in 2000 and had to have one of his kidneys removed.
Then, in 2020, the host revealed that the cancer had returned in his kidney, spine, brain and lungs.
, describing him as “like a father to me”.
She said at the time: “I got the phone call from his lovely wife Nadine and I just burst into tears because I knew this day was coming but I never wanted it to come.”
Lizzie also described how James supported her following the breakfown of her marriage to her , who she shares two sons, Josh and James, with.
“He helped me through a lot of ups and downs, through my divorce,” she said of James.
“He told me when I was being an idiot, he told me straight and I loved that in James.”
Lizzie is now grieving the loss of her brother, Peter, and is being privately supported by close friends.
A number of those commented on Lizzie’s post about his death, with Vanessa Feltz writing: “Lizzie I am so sorry for your sad loss.
“I send you my deepest condolences and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your lovely family. Love always Vanessa.”
