Her gold medal in downhill skiing from 2010 complements her bronze medal in the Super-G from the same year and another bronze in downhill skiing from 2018.
Additionally, she has been crowned world champion twice and has added three silver and three bronze medals to her impressive career tally.
After retiring from skiing in 2019, Vonn announced her comeback in 2024.
She seems to have retained her competitive edge, excelling in the 2025-26 FIS World Cup after dominating the St. Moritz World Cup downhill race.
Vonn secured her 83rd World Cup victory, finishing a second ahead of her nearest competitor.
With an impressive time of 1:29.63, she was the only athlete to break the 1:30 mark, charging to victory after initially placing 16th on the course as she gained time in the middle segment.
In a press conference before the event, she discussed how she has gotten back into her rhythm.
She stated: “Physically, I’m possibly in the best shape I’ve ever been in.
“And my body feels great, which is the best part of all.
“My goal was to gain significant strength this summer.
“I was lighter than I would have preferred last season.
“I was still considerably lighter than I was during my prime racing years.”
Vonn shared that she managed to gain about 12 pounds during the offseason through “a lot of hard work.”
She added: “I was probably the most disciplined I’ve ever been with my diet and my overall approach this summer.
“I dedicated everything I had to being as physically prepared as possible.”
Magdalena Egger from Austria was Vonn’s closest competitor during Friday’s race.
