A prominent Christian leader, Matthew Ashimolowo of the Kingsways International Christian Centre (KICC), has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu's government in its efforts to combat insecurity in the country.
Ashimolowo made this appeal on Thursday during an interview on Sunrise Daily, a program on Channels Television, which was monitored by DAILY POST.
He emphasized that the Tinubu administration is dedicated to making a significant impact in Nigeria’s battle against insecurity.
“Nigeria requires a transformation. Let us rally behind our president now that he has called for increased policing and more soldiers.
“Let us elevate the security level, instill pride in our citizens as Nigerians, harness the intellect of our nation, and acknowledge the broader African community.
“Every African nation aspires to be like Nigeria. They take great pride in us, Nigerians. We are the most resilient, strongest, boldest, and most fearless. This is who we are, and I am confident we have leadership that is eager to effect change. Let us support and stand with him (Tinubu),” the KICC founder stated.
DAILY POST reports that Nigeria is facing numerous security issues, including banditry, terrorism, and kidnappings for ransom.
It is worth noting that on Wednesday, President Tinubu declared a state of emergency regarding insecurity and announced the recruitment of additional security personnel to tackle the issue.
“Today, considering the evolving security situation, I have made the decision to declare a nationwide security emergency and authorize the recruitment of more personnel into the Armed Forces.
“Through this declaration, the police and the army are permitted to recruit additional personnel. The police will enlist 20,000 more officers, increasing the total to 50,000,” Tinubu stated.
