The former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in 2023, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has addressed the rumors regarding a conflict with Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf.

In an interview with BBC Hausa, Kwankwaso refuted the allegations, asserting that there is no discord between him, the governor, or key members of the state government, despite claims made by certain politicians.

He emphasized that Governor Yusuf was selected based on merit and his longstanding loyalty to the Kwankwasiyya movement.

“There is no issue between me and Governor Abba. We provided him with the opportunity to excel, and he is doing his utmost. It is merely some deceitful individuals attempting to sow discord where none exists.

“We thoroughly evaluated the candidates and determined he was the most qualified as early as 2019. We entrusted him with the responsibility to perform, and we continue to back him.

“Those who assert that I control contracts or manage the government are simply being mischievous. In time, the truth will be revealed,” he stated.
