Kemi Badenoch has called for the dismissal of BBC staff involved in altering a speech by Donald Trump.

A leaked internal memo obtained by the Telegraph suggests that this was done to imply he had incited the Capitol Hill riots in 2021.

Ms. Badenoch remarked: “This is false news, as it involves piecing together different statements to create a misleading narrative.

“I believe that individuals should be held accountable.

“The person responsible for this should be dismissed; that is the responsibility of the [Director General] to identify who disseminated misinformation and take appropriate action.”

The chair of the Commons culture committee, Dame, has also reached out to BBC chairman Samir Shah expressing her concerns.

The Conservative MP stated: “The BBC clearly faces significant questions regarding its editorial standards and the manner in which senior management addresses these concerns.”
