Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State on Monday swore in Garba Hassan Warrah as Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development and Mining.
He also inaugurated the Kebbi State Mining Development Agency, with Abdullahi Buhari Warrah appointed as Managing Director.
Garba Warrah replaces Haliru Aliyu Muhammad Wasagu, who was earlier suspended by the governor.
The oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge, Justice Umar Abubakar, at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
Idris said the appointments were based on merit and warned the new officials against poor performance.
He stressed that their main task is to boost revenue generation through the mining sector, noting that previous investments in a mining site in Ngaski yielded no results.
The governor added that Kebbi must diversify its revenue sources, as federal allocation alone cannot meet the state’s needs.
He gave the appointees six months to deliver results, promising government support to help them succeed.
