The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has suspended Sule-Iko Sadeeq for reportedly declaring himself the party’s state chairman without proper authorization.
The suspension was communicated in a statement released on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi by the party's state publicity secretary, Abubakar Atiku-Musa.
According to the statement, the suspension is effective immediately due to recent events within the party.
It stated that this decision was made after thorough consultations and in accordance with the party’s constitution and directives from the National Working Committee (NWC).
“The NWC has determined that all state chairmen shall retain their positions until their tenure concludes in May 2026,” the statement highlighted.
It further mentioned that the party’s coalition leader was not informed of any self-declaration or unilateral takeover of the position by Sadeeq without appropriate consultation or authorization.
“The State Working Committee (SWC) of ADC, Kebbi, therefore, officially suspends Dr. Sule-Iko Sadeeq from the party and cautions him against participating in any party activities,” the statement noted.
The statement confirmed Sufiyanu Bala as the duly recognized and constitutional chairman of the ADC in the state.
It also urged security agencies to take necessary actions to prevent Sadeeq from presenting himself as chairman or engaging in any party activities under that title.
“All party members, supporters, and the general public are hereby encouraged to disregard any unauthorized claims or statements from Dr. Sadeeq that contradict the official stance of the party,” it concluded.
