The Katsina State House of Assembly has urged the state government to ban graduation celebrations in schools, citing concerns over security and the promotion of social vices.
The resolution was reached during plenary on Tuesday, presided over by Deputy Speaker Alhaji Abduljal Runka. Tasi’u Musa-Maigari, representing Zango Constituency, said such gatherings often create disorder and appealed for support to prohibit them.
Aliyu Abubakar-Albaba of Katsina Constituency also highlighted the rising problem of phone snatching, urging the government to take immediate action to curb the menace.
The house unanimously adopted the motions and directed the Clerk to transmit the resolutions to the Executive Arm for necessary action.
In the same session, the assembly called for the dismissal of Dr. Ibrahim Ishaq, Permanent Member ‘I’ of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, following an alleged public remark deemed offensive to the legislature.
