The chairmen of 31 local government areas in Kano State have expressed their support for the calls urging the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This stance emerged after a series of stakeholder meetings held across the local government areas from Sunday to Monday, during which the chairmen shared their perspectives on the party's political future in the state.

Reports indicate that 31 local government areas have endorsed the idea of defecting from the NNPP to the APC. However, the chairmen of two local government areas, Kura and Tsanyawa, have chosen to remain with the NNPP, alongside its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, reaffirming their commitment to the party’s principles.

As of the time of this report, 11 local government areas have not yet publicly stated their positions on this issue.

Kano State comprises a total of 44 local government areas, and there is keen interest in the remaining local government chairmen who have yet to announce their positions as the political landscape continues to generate significant public attention throughout the state.
