Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has sacked his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Sunusi Kwankwaso.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, on Saturday in Kano.
According to Bature, the governor appointed Mustapha Bakwana to replace Kwankwaso.
“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has sacked his Political Adviser, Sunusi Surajo Kwankwaso, and appointed Mustapha Bakwana as his successor,” Bature said.
This is coming barely 24 hours after the governor of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, the party through which he was elected governor in 2023.
The governor cited protracted internal crises and legal disputes as reasons behind his action.
According to him, the crises have weakened the party’s cohesion nationwide.
