JOSH WARRINGTON and Leigh Wood were pulled apart at the forehead after they reignited their feud.

The original versus clash came to a controversial end in 2023 when Elland Road diehard Warrington was stopped on his feet.

The 35-year-old was ahead on all three scorecards and he was fuming to be stopped after the 37-year-old fan enjoyed his first real moment of success.

The rematch happens on February 21, in Wood’s home city, just two weeks after their two rival clubs meet in the Prem.

And the aggro started early, at a launch press conference, when a two-minute face-off had to be split up before it kicked off.

Raging Yorkshireman Warrington said: “Before the first fight, it was all respectful but since then it’s been nothing but disrespect.

“I wouldn’t say we were mates but we were alright. But now that’s all changed.

“I boxed his ears off for seven rounds, he caught me with a punch from the gods and then goes around telling everyone that was his game plan – b*******.

“I won’t take my eye off the ball this time, I won’t let him off the hook again. This time I will finish the job, this time I won’t give him a lucky shot.”

Wood replied: “This fight will be even easier than the first one. I probably won’t need to wait seven rounds this time.

“Well done he was ahead on the cards, you can be ahead in a game of or the 100 metres, but you can still get done in the last minute or on the line.

“He’s crying about the stoppage but he was staring up at row z, he didn’t have a clue where he was, the referee did him a favour stopping it when he did.”

Wood did give his local rival some extra incentive to win a loveless Valentine’s battle by admitting a loss could be the end of his career.

He explained: “I am 37 and I have got other things I want to do and achieve.

“I might retire if I win this fight, let alone lose.

“But I do have to win this fight, it’s billed as ‘last man standing’ and I am honest – and confident – enough to say that I will be finished if I don’t beat him.”
