The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on the present administration under Governor Umar Namadi in Jigawa State to review payroll systems and eliminate ghost workers in order to free up funds for development projects.

The call was made by the PDP state chairman, Hon. Babandi Ibrahim Gumel on his Facebook page.

The chairman ‘s comments come while reacting to the BudgIT’s Report released recently, placing Jigawa State Poor in Budget Performance Ranking.

According to him, “we the Jigawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) express our deep concern over the recently released BudgIT report, which ranked our dear state lowest in budget performance among Nigeria’s 36 states.”

He explained that key findings from BudgIT’s report showed that Jigawa recorded one of the lowest capital budget implementation rates, with critical sectors like health, education, and infrastructure receiving far less than allocated.

Babandi said the revelation was not just disappointing but a wake-up call for the development of the state.

The party advised the present All Progressives Congress, APC, administration under Governor Umar Namadi to prioritize capital projects.

“We call on the Governor to act swiftly and decisively to restore fiscal discipline, rebuild public trust, and reposition our state for inclusive growth,” he said.
