Former Leicester City defender, Danny Simpson has expressed his sympathy for Manchester United’s new striker, Benjamin Sesko.

The striker was helpless again as the Red Devils suffered an embarrassing 3-0 defeat at the hands of their city rivals, Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

Erling Haaland netted twice after Phil Foden had opened the scoring in the first half.

Simpson noted that the Red Devils are struggling to create chances from every area on the pitch.

“I felt sorry for [Benjamin] Sesko today. He’s trying but there’s nothing he can do,” he told Stadium Astro.

Despite bringing in some quality players in the summer, the Red Devils have continued from where they stopped last season in terms of bad results.

Ruben Amorim’s team has played four games in the Premier League so far this season.

They were able to win just one, lost two and drew one.

The Red Devils are sitting 14th in the Premier League table with 4 points.

Simpson further blamed Amorim for not starting Kobbie Mainoo in the game, adding, “Crazy [Mainoo didn’t start]. When he comes on there’s a bit of energy.”

The former Sporting CP boss is under pressure to turn things around at Old Trafford.

Up next for Manchester United is a home game against high-flying Chelsea next Saturday.
