IZZY Hammond sent an emotional message to her dad Richard after being involved in a scary Formula E crash on Sunday.

She had experienced understeer while taking a corner at speed and came crashing into the barrier at turn 13.

Fortunately, the 25-year-old walked away without a scratch.

Following the terrifying incident, Hammond, who boasts over 280,000 followers, revealed that her first thought was not of herself but of her dad.

When discussing the incident after the race, she was asked: “It was a bit of a heart-in-mouth moment, but you’re smiling, you’re okay, you’re in one piece. Have you been checked over?

Clearly still in good spirits, Hammond joked: “Yeah, the car’s not in one piece though!

She continued: “I’m good. My first thought when I was sat in that wall was ‘Oh my god, everyone’s watching, my dad’s watching, he’s gonna cry or something…

“‘Can someone just tell him I’m okay?'”

Her father Richard is no stranger to the implications of a serious accident.

He has been involved in during his duties as a presenter on Top Gear and .

His most famous incident came while he was testing a jet-propelled dragster for Top Gear in 2006.

He reached speeds of almost 300mph across multiple safe runs, but on his final attempt he suffered a blowout in his front left tire, prompting the car to lose control and veer off the track.

Hammond was airlifted to hospital and was placed in an induced coma for two weeks.

In 2017 he suffered a similar close call while testing the 1,200-hp Rimac Concept One for The Grand Tour.

The now 57-year-old was racing a hill climb when he lost control of the vehicle and was sent tumbling down the side of a hill.

The car landed on its roof and burst into flames, but Hammond miraculously escaped with only a knee fracture.

Thankfully his daughter was just as fortunate during her run at the Evo Sessions, which also counted celebrity influencers such as Behzinga, WillNE and among its participants.

It is the second edition of the Sessions, with last year’s event seeing the likes of and sitting behind the wheel.
