The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria has expressed disagreement with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s aide, Daniel Bwala, regarding the issue of Christian genocide in Nigeria.
YOWICAN stated that it is unfortunate that the reality of Christian genocide does not seem to impact Bwala and his family.
Bako Adashu Elijah, the National Secretary of YOWICAN, shared this viewpoint during his address at the convention held in Jalingo, Taraba State, over the weekend.
This statement follows Bwala’s consistent assertion that claims of Christian genocide in Nigeria are misleading.
Nonetheless, Elijah emphasized that the killings of Christians are indeed occurring in Nigeria, particularly in the North-east region.
He noted that the recent “wake-up call” issued by former President Donald Trump of the United States regarding the alleged killings of Christians in Nigeria has once again highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by the country.
“Our stance as YOWICAN remains unchanged: there has been, and continues to be, an ongoing genocide in certain parts of Nigeria.
“Any efforts to downplay or misrepresent this truth stem from media distortion.
“In response to Mr. Daniel Bwala, we respectfully address the remarks of our elder brother and father, Mr. Daniel Bwala, concerning our previous appeal to the President of Nigeria. It is worth noting that Mr. Bwala hails from the North-east—specifically Borno State. If the issue of Christian genocide does not affect his community or family simply because he currently enjoys the comforts of government, then that is indeed regrettable.
He reiterated the call for the dismissal of Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, due to the ongoing incidents of insecurity.
“Our request for the removal of the National Security Adviser, Mr. Nuhu Ribadu, is based on the pressing need for effective, responsive, and competent leadership in national security.
“Thus, we reaffirm our appeal today: “Mr. President, please consider replacing the National Security Adviser.”
