The leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Effiong Nyong and former governorship candidate Peter Edeh, who was also the former national chairman for North Central, have reiterated that the primary objective of the coalition party is to gain power and revitalize both Cross River State and Nigeria as a whole.

Nyong and Edeh made their remarks during the official unveiling of the party in the state yesterday in Calabar.

Nyong, who heads the party in the state, expressed his concerns about the numerous issues plaguing the country, stating that it has been brought to its knees.

He highlighted that the problem of insecurity has severely tarnished the reputation of the national ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), exposing its incompetence.

He asserted that the APC has failed to protect the lives of Nigerians, as violent killings have become alarmingly frequent, turning each day into a nightmare.

“Given the current situation in Nigeria, insecurity has emerged as the primary concern, with citizens being brutally murdered in their homes without hesitation.

“The foremost responsibility of any government is to ensure the safety of its citizens. However, the APC has significantly failed in this area.

“In recent years, every day has turned into a nightmare in Nigeria. People are being killed, and just recently, another 225 schoolchildren were kidnapped from their school. Homes are being destroyed, churches are under attack, and worshippers are being abducted by armed criminals. The safety of the populace is in jeopardy.

“We must take action to restore order and address the ungoverned areas throughout Nigerian states, particularly in Cross River State.”

In a similar vein, Dr. Peter Edeh, representing the national vice chairman, stated that they have become a powerful force aimed at rescuing and restoring the country, having established political structures nationwide.

“The peace and prosperity of Nigeria have been compromised, which is why it is crucial for us to step in and reset the country. The unification of various politicians into the ADC coalition has strengthened our position.”
