Former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, has informed Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu is losing sleep over the ongoing security and economic challenges facing the nation.

In an interview on Channels Television, Kalu mentioned that the country is currently experiencing a manpower shortage, as many Nigerians are reluctant to join the police force.

He acknowledged that the nation is significantly under-policed but emphasized that it is not solely the government's failure to recruit, as even when job advertisements are published, potential candidates are hesitant to enlist in the police.

Nevertheless, he reassured Nigerians that President Tinubu is sacrificing his rest to seek solutions to Nigeria's issues and insisted that improvements are on the horizon.

The Abia State federal lawmaker stated, “It’s a matter of manpower. This is a population of nearly 300 million people. We are not 250 million.”

When asked why the Tinubu administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC), his party, seem slow in fulfilling their promises to Nigerians, Kalu responded, “Let me clarify, we cannot compel anyone to join the Nigeria Police Force.

“We have placed advertisements. Did you submit an application? We are doing everything within our power.

“President Tinubu is having sleepless nights every day concerning Nigeria, and I can assure you that things will improve.”
