The Federal Government, via the Ministry of Education, has provided further clarification regarding the closure of schools in the country due to the ongoing issues with insecurity.

In a statement issued by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations, the Federal Government stated that some of the reports circulating in the media about school closures are inaccurate.

The ministry informed the public that the message currently being shared on social media platforms, claiming that schools across the nation have been ordered to close starting from November 24, 2025, is false, misleading, and did not originate from the government, any State Ministry of Education, or any recognized security agency.

“The public is strongly advised to rely solely on verified information disseminated through the following official channels: The Federal Government, The Federal Ministry of Education, State Governments, and State Ministries of Education, or recognized security agencies,”

“Any announcements, advisories, or notices from unofficial or unverified sources should be disregarded and not shared.”

“Members of the public are encouraged to always verify the authenticity of information before sharing it to help prevent the spread of misinformation.”

It is important to note that the government had previously announced the closure of approximately 47 government-owned schools located in the northern region of the country.

This decision was made following recent student abductions from various schools in the north, with the largest incidents occurring in Niger and Kebbi States.
