The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has made it clear that Nigerians are aware of his support for President Bola Tinubu.
Wike stated that he does not require any formal meeting to express his support for Tinubu.
He made these remarks during an end-of-year media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he refuted an allegation made against him by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
Recall that Makinde recently informed journalists that Wike, during a visit to the State House in 2024, pledged to “hold PDP” for Tinubu.
Wike rejected Makinde’s assertion, emphasizing that their meeting with the President was not related to the PDP but was intended to demonstrate support for his leadership.
“Seyi claimed that I told Tinubu I would hold the PDP for him. That never occurred.
“Everyone is aware of my position on Tinubu; I do not require a meeting to communicate that.
“As a minister, my responsibility is to ensure that members of the G-5 benefit from the Tinubu administration in some capacity.”
Wike insisted that the Oyo governor has a responsibility to explain to his constituents how the N50 billion intervention funds from Tinubu, intended for the January 2024 explosion in the Bodija area of the state, were utilized.
He pointed out that such funds should have been appropriated prior to their expenditure.
