Senator Seriake Dickson has expressed his disapproval of Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri’s choice to switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He stated that there was no justification for a second-term governor like Diri to join the APC.
While emphasizing that Diri’s defection was unnecessary, the former Bayelsa Governor committed to remaining with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Douye Diri resigned from the PDP on Wednesday.
He subsequently announced that he would be joining the ruling APC along with 23 members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
This development comes just a day after Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, also joined the ruling party.
“Everyone is flocking to the ruling party; it’s unclear what is motivating them or what they are seeking,” Seriake Dickson remarked in a widely shared post on X on Wednesday.
“The governor consulted with me several times, and I remained unconvinced as I did not see any compelling reason for a second-term governor to defect.”
