A husband and wife have tragically lost their lives after becoming trapped in a private sauna in Tokyo, Japan.

Authorities in Tokyo are examining whether a malfunctioning doorknob trapped the distressed couple inside the room at Sauna Tiger.

The victims have been identified as Yoko Matsuda, 37, and her husband Masanari, 36.

“We extend our deepest condolences… and our heartfelt sympathies for the immense grief and sorrow that cannot be adequately expressed,” stated Sauna Tiger in a public announcement.
