A WOMAN has hit back at trolls who claim she is a ‘slave’ for being a tradwife.
Grace and her husband Bradley have decided to ignore modern life and focus on traditional values.
As a result, Grace gave up her teaching job to be a homemaker and homeschool their four kids.
But she said she is often judged for her lifestyle.
Speaking on Love Don’t Judge, she said: “They make comments like ‘oh well, it sounds like you’re just a slave’.”
Bradley revealed that he first met Grace when he hired her to be a nanny for his son from a previous marriage .
He added: “We initially met in 2009. I was going through a divorce and I needed somebody to watch my son that I had from my previous marriage.”
Grace added that she was his nanny for six months, looking after the son as well as cooking and cleaning when the pair developed feelings for each other.
Now, the pair have been married for 11 years and have four more children, Leo, 8, Autumn, 3, Max, 2, and Lily, 16 months old.
In the video, Grace showed a typical day in her life, which starts early in the morning, getting dressed and putting on her make-up before Bradley wakes up.
She also puts out his clothes for his workday before making breakfast for the whole family.
Grace added: “Being a tradwife means mostly sacrifice to me. It’s putting my family’s needs first and their wants first.”
Bradley spends the days working and giving his paycheck to Grace to sort out the families finances.
Despite some of the backlash, Grace says she loves her life.
” It’s a healthy lifestyle and it’s nothing to be ashamed of,” she said.
“I think the best part about being a tradwife is the freedom. I can set up our schedule however I want.”
The clip went viral on YouTube with over 15k views, and many took to the comments to share their thoughts.
One person wrote: “They call this being a stay at home mum. Nothing wrong with that.”
What is a trad wife?
A trad wife (short for traditional wife) is a woman who chooses to take on an ultra traditional role in marriage, meaning she makes dinner and looks pretty whilst her husband goes to work.
The trend takes inspiration from the idea of a 1950s housewife.
Many ‘trad wives’ choose to dress in the style of clothing popular in this period (think floral dresses and frumpy cardigans).
Additionally, the values considered important to trad wives are similar to strict Christian values.
Trad wives believed they were not forced into this way of life, and that it was their purpose to be homemakers.
The trend, which has garnered attention on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, glamorises a time gone by with little acknowledgement of the economic challenges facing families and mothers today.
Another commented: “So whenever your husband passes away, you have no job experience no savings no job.”
“She needs her own money. He should be setting up her own accounts to protect her too,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “This is not the life for me but if they’re happy good for them!!”
Someone else added: “All of these terms. I can’t keep up.”
