Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has inaugurated three new commissioners and a member of the State Electoral Commission.

The swearing-in ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Council Chambers in the new Governor’s office in Yola, 10 days after the men were confirmed for appointment by the Adamawa State House of Assembly.

The nomination and confirmation followed the resignation of three of Fintiri’s commissioners, after the affected commissioners refused to defect with Fintiri from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adamu Atiku, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who would not toe Fintiri’s line but has on his own left the PDP, chose his father’s African Democratic Congress (ADC) as his new party.

The newly inaugurated commissioners are Sali Idris from Maiha LGA, Muhammed Suleiman from Mubi North LGA, and Chubado Mohammed from Jada LGA.

Sali Idris is the new Commissioner for Livestock; Muhammed Suleiman takes charge of the Ministry of Works, while Chubado Mohammed heads Energy.

Iliya Gaji was sworn in during the same ceremony as a member of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission.

Addressing the appointees, Governor Fintiri urged them to demonstrate integrity and a strong sense of responsibility in their respective offices.

The governor tasked them with introducing fresh ideas and working collaboratively with other members of the executive council for inclusive governance and sustainable development.

With local government elections approaching in the state, Fintiri urged Gaji to work closely with other members of the electoral body to ensure the conduct of credible and transparent polls.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, the new Commissioner for Energy, Chubado Mohammed, thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve.

The oath of office and allegiance was administered to the appointees by the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Afaimu Jingi.
