Governor Mai Mala Buni has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) sole candidate for the Yobe East Senatorial District through consensus.

The primary election was held on Monday at the Yobe State Arts and Cultural Centre, Damaturu, where hundreds of APC members, including Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Geidam, Senator Musa Mustapha, and APC State Chairman Mohammadu Gadaka, among others, attended.

Senator Musa Mustapha of Yobe East Senatorial District moved the motion to adopt Governor Mai Mala Buni as the consensus candidate for the seat, while a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lawan Shettima Ali, seconded the motion.

The chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee for Yobe East, Ambassador Babagana Ajimi, presented the certificate of return to the APC Yobe East senatorial candidate.

Governor Buni, in his acceptance speech, thanked APC stakeholders in Yobe East, saying his endorsement as the sole senatorial candidate is another opportunity to serve the people with dedication.

The primary election was conducted under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, led by its Resident Electoral Commissioner, Abubakar Maaji.
