Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the constitution of a high-powered committee to implement the White Paper Report on the Assessment of Grazing Reserves, Forest Reserves, Game Reserves, and Cattle Routes across the state.
Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe, in a statement said the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the governor’s approval, explained that the committee comprises representatives from key security agencies, relevant ministries and departments, traditional institutions, farmers’ and herders’ associations, as well as technical and regulatory bodies.
The statement said Retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Babaji Sunday, has been appointed chairman of the committee, with Yusuf Madi, Director of Livestock, and Suleiman Musa Kumo, Director of Forestry, as members.
The committees other members include Gombe State Commissioner of Police; State Director of Security; Commandant, 301 Field Artillery Regiment, Gombe; Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); and the Emir of Yamaltu, HRH Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, representing the Council of Emirs and Chiefs.
Other members include Alhaji Ardo Chindo Abubakar, representing Miyetti Allah; Alhaji Mohammed Magaji Gettado, AFAN National President, representing the All Farmers Association of Nigeria; Surveyor Zakari Isa, Surveyor-General of Gombe State; Dr. Kabiru Usman Hassan, Director-General, Gombe Geographic Information System (GOGIS); Barrister Ibrahim Hussaini, representing the Ministry of Justice; and Professor Usman B. Abubakar, State Coordinator, L-PRESS.
The Permanent Secretary (General Duties) in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Muazu Shehu, will serve as secretary of the committee.
According to the statement, all appointments take immediate effect.
