As detectives probed those shocking stabbings, they also began investigating an earlier incident in south east London.

This involved a man allegedly armed with a knife.

Police have now said they believe the same suspect was involved.

Officers were called at around 8.50am to an address in Great Dover Street, SE1, following reports of an altercation.

Police said the suspect allegedly had a knife and was involved in a confrontation with the occupant before leaving the address.

The occupant suffered minor injuries.

Officers arrived within around six minutes and searched the area for the suspect, but he was not found.

Detectives also carried out enquiries at an address linked to the suspect, but again he was not located.

Counter terror officers said searches are now being carried out at an address in south east London as the investigation continues.

Police said the focus of the investigation remains “on securing justice for the victims of this terrible attack.”

Anyone with information is urged to get in touch with the force.

Few details have been released so far about the man detained over the stabbing in Golders Green, which is usual for this early in an investigation.

Cops described him as a 45-year-old British national who was born in Somalia.

Yesterday, Sir Mark Rowley said the individual in custody has a “history of serious violence and mental health issues”.

After he was Tasered and detained, he was taken to hospital but was later discharged and taken to a London police station.
