A SCHOOLGIRL who tragically lost her life in a devastating caravan fire was awake during the incident, which is believed to have been caused by a malfunctioning phone or tablet.
Esme Baker, 10, and her father Lee, 48, were staying at Golden Beach Holiday Park in Lincolnshire in April, as revealed in an inquest today.
The caravan fire that resulted in their deaths has been classified as “accidental, undetermined.”
The duo was on vacation at the Ingoldmells site when the fire erupted around 3am on April 5.
Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly before 4am, with police and fire investigators working throughout the night.
The inquests into the deaths of Esme and Lee, previously opened at Lincoln Coroner’s Court, disclosed that Lee purchased the caravan in November of the previous year and had spent the last few weekends there with his daughter.
