Tragically, her remains were discovered on Friday just after midday just three miles away.
Police say they believe the little girl was murdered.
Authorities are still searching for her suspected murderer.
Kumanjayi was last seen just before midnight when she was put to bed in an Aboriginal town camp just outside the remote Australian town last Saturday night.
On Friday, Northern Territory Police said the body of the child had been found.
Forensic testing has begun to confirm her identity and cause of death.
A massive search is still underway combing through the bush and nearby desert for Jefferson Lewis.
Lewis, 47, was released from prison just six days prior to Kumanjayi going missing.
He also vanished around the same time she did.
Cops believe the newly released crim murdered the little girl.
Lead investigator Peter Malley spoke to Australian media on Friday.
“I say to Jefferson Lewis: we’re coming for you.”
Police found a pair of children’s underwear nearby the camp, which also underwent forensic testing.
They have since confirmed the DNA for both Kumanjayi – who is non verbal – and Lewis was present.
Local media has reported Lewis is a distant relative of the little girl.
He was released from prison for domestic and family violence related offending.
Just a week later he was seen holding hands with Kumanjayi on the night she vanished.
